Manitoba Recipients of the Order of Canada

Created in 1967 as part of Canada’s centennial celebrations, the Order of Canada is the centrepiece of Canada’s honours system and recognizes a lifetime of outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation. The Order recognizes people in all sectors of Canadian society. Their contributions are varied, yet they have all enriched the lives of others and made a difference to this country.

Nominations are received from the public. Appointments into the order are selected by an advisory board and formally inducted by the Governor General.

There are three levels to the Order of Canada, in ascending order as follows:

• Member of the Order of Canada (C.M.)
• Officer of the Order of Canada (O.C.)
• Companion of the Order of Canada (C.C.) - highest level
