Established in 1879, Aikins MacAulay and Thorvaldson LLP was one of the oldest and largest law firm in Manitoba. Its founding lawyer was James Albert Manning Aikins, who was later joined first by Albert Monkman, and later by William Henry Culver and Charles Edward Hamilton.
In 1969, the firm amalgamated with Thorvaldson Eggertson Saunders and Mauro to form Aikins MacAulay and Thorvaldson.
In 2004, a MHS Centennial Business Award was presented to the firm by Ken Zealand.
On 1 January 2017, Aikins MacAulay and Thorvaldson merged with the Saskatchewan-based law firm of MacPherson Leslie and Tyerman to form MLT Aikins.
