Memorable Manitobans: Peter Scott Morse (1927-2018)
Born at Winnipeg on 29 May 1927, son of Harry D. Morse and Tena Bell (?-1963), he was educated at Ravenscourt School, University of Manitoba (BA 1948), and the Manitoba Law School (1952). He also served at the Royal Canadian Naval College at Royal Roads, British Columbia and served with the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve from 1946 to 1951. He practised law with the firm of Aikins, MacAulay and Thorvaldson from 1952 to 1975, eventualy becoming a senior partner. He served as President (1972-1973) and Life Bencher (1973-2018) of the Law Society of Manitoba. He was made a Queen’s Counsel in 1965. He served as Puisne Judge on the Court of Queen’s Bench from 1975 until retirement in 2002. He was married twice, first on 18 September 1954 to Marjorie Jane Bull (?-1980) and second in 1983 to Margaret Chown. He was Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Rupert's Land and received a honorary Doctor of Canon Law degree from St. John's College. He died at Winnipeg on 5 December 2018.
