Memorable Manitobans: Viola Uldine Lang (1901-1971)

Educator.

Born in the Rural Municipality of Silver River on 17 March 1901, daughter of Ella Anderson (1876-?) and William Henry Lang (1869-1908), she grew up at Silverton (1901) and Russell (1911), and attended Kelvin High School and Central Normal School at Winnipeg.

She began teaching during the First World War, her career including time at Dollard, Saskatchewan (1918) and at Stirling School (1920-1921), New Hirsch School (1922-1923, Principal), Tobacco Creek School (1924-1926), Skogan School (1936-1937), and Cossette School (1937-1940). She retired to Winnipeg, residing at 209 Colony Street and being a member of the Knox United Church and its Study Club.

She died at the St. Boniface Hospital on 22 April 1971.
