Educator, farmer, community activist.
Born on a farm near Angusville on 27 August 1921, daughter of Maria Helen “May” Bell (1889-1957) and James Little Turnbull (1877-1931), she attended Seeburn School then completed grades 9 and 10 by correspondence, grade 11 at Angus School, and grade 12 at Russell School. After receiving a teaching certificate from the Central Normal School (1939-1940), she taught at Primrose School (1940-1942) and Westlake School (1942-1944).
On 26 October 1944, she married Archibald “Archie” McCallum (?-1991) of Croll and they had six children. The family operated a mixed farm and she was active in the community. She was a member of Primrose Homemakers (1947-2012), Regent United Church, and St. Paul's United Church. In 2011, she received a Lieutenant Governor's Award for Historical Preservation and Promotion for her volunteer work at the Beckoning Hills Museum, cataloguing local cemeteries, and development of local history books and pamphlets.
She died at Deloraine on 27 March 2017 and was buried in the Boissevain Cemetery.
