Memorable Manitobans: William Jonathan Gresham (1903-1978)Educator. Born at Perth, Australia on 7 March 1903, son of Jonathan Gresham and Henrietta Grave, brother of Albert Burton Gresham, he emigrated to Manitoba in 1910 with his family and was educated at Elkhorn School and St. John’s High School. He served as Principal of Carroll School (1924-1927) and Pine Falls School (1927-1932), later moving to Winnipeg where he taught at Faraday School (1932-1940), Isaac Newton School (1940-1956), and Kelvin High School (1956-1968). On 27 July 1927, he married Frances May Dawley (1901-1991) at Carroll and they subsequently had three sons: Burton Gresham, Douglas Gresham, and Glenn Gresham.
