Memorable Manitobans: Austin Alfred Dale (1911-2003)

Educator.

Born on a farm in the Rural Municipality of Argyle on 14 July 1911, son of John T. Dale and Adeline E. Dunne, his 41-year teaching career was spent at several places around Manitoba, including at Otterburn, Piney, and Amaranth School. He was the Principal of Connor School (1939-1941), Oakville School (1941-1945), Stony Mountain School (1945-1951), and Brickburn School (1951-1955), after which he moved to Winnipeg. He was a founding member of Wesley United Church (now Immanuel United Church), serving on its board, as its Sunday School Superintendent, and choir member. He died at Winnipeg on 23 March 2003.
