Memorable Manitobans: Francis Kethel “Frank” Coleridge (1865-1944)

Educator.

Born at Egremont, Ontario in 1865, he came to Manitoba and was Principal of Selkirk School (1891-1892), Cypress River School (1907-1909), Rathwell School (1909-1910), Grandview School (1915-1917), Alexander School (1919-1920), Winnipegosis School (1920-1921), Starbuck School (1923-1924), Minitonas School (1926-1927), and Bethany School (1927-1928). He moved to Saskatchewan in 1928 and taught at Maple Creek and Star City until retirement in 1938.

On 24 August 1898, he married Emily Maria Penfold (1865-1965) at Guelph, Ontario. They had three children: Francis Daniel Coleridge (b 1900), Winsome M. Coleridge (b 1903) and Fannie Elizabeth Grace Coleridge (b 1904). By 1938, he was living in retirement at Nut Mountain, Saskatchewan. He died in Saskatchewan in 1941 and was buried in the Nut Mountain Cemetery.
