Memorable Manitobans: Francis Kethel “Frank” Coleridge (1865-1944)
Educator. Born at Egremont, Ontario in June 1865, he moved to Manitoba and was Principal of Selkirk School (1892-1894) before returning to Ontario. He later came back to Manitoba and was the Principal at Cypress River School (1907-1909), Rathwell School (1910-1911), Grandview School (1915-1917), Alexander School (1919-1920), Winnipegosis School (1920-1921), Starbuck School (1923-1924), Minitonas School (1926-1927), and Bethany School (1927-1928). He moved to Saskatchewan in 1928 and taught at Maple Creek and Star City until retirement in 1938. On 24 August 1898, he married Emily Maria Penfold (1865-1965) at Guelph, Ontario. They had three children: Francis Daniel Coleridge (1900-1974), Winsome M. Coleridge (1903-1956) and Fannie Elizabeth Grace Coleridge (1904-1948, wife of ? Peters). By 1938, he was living in retirement at Nut Mountain, Saskatchewan. He died in Saskatchewan in 1944 and was buried in the Nut Mountain Cemetery.
