Memorable Manitobans: John Clarence “Kelly” Williamson (1903-1981)


Born at La Riviere, Manitoba on 14 January 1903, son of George Williamson and Emily Rooke, he taught at several places in rural Manitoba, including terms as Principal of Clandeboye School (1924-1927), Green Ridge School (1928-1929), Griswold School (1929-1941), and Neepawa School (1953-1954). During the Second World War, his teaching career was interrupted by service as an instructor with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He retired from teaching at Fort Frances, Ontario in 1968 and moved to North Vancouver, BC, then came to Winnipeg in 1978 where he died on 4 May 1981.
