Memorable Manitobans: James Gray Mundie (c1892-1965)Accountant. Born at Cruden Bay, Scotland around 1892, he came to Canada in 1911. He joined the accounting firm of Riddell, Stead, Graham, and Hutchison that year and stayed with the firm until his death. He was resident partner in Winnipeg until 1954. He served as President of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (1934-1935), President of the Manitoba Institute of Chartered Accountants (1934-1936), and a member of the Council of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Manitoba for 32 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1926, and elder since 1928, and clerk of Sessions (1940-1964). He was an honorary life member of the Manitoba Golf Association and St. Charles Country Club, and founded the Mundie Putter League for inter-club competition. He was a member of the Carleton Club and Kiwanis Club of Winnipeg (President). He and wife Jean Marion MacIntosh (?-1989) had three children: Jean Ann Mundie (1925-2011, wife of Bruce Roberton), Peter Mundie, and John Duncan Mundie. He died at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 7 November 1965 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Sources:Obituary, Winnipeg Free Press, 9 November 1965.
