Memorable Manitobans: Clarence Lorne Kerr (1897-1973)

Educator.

Born in Eldon Township, Ontario on 16 January 1897, he came to Manitoba and was the Principal of Dominion City School (1920-1922), Waskada School (1922-1924), and Belmont School (1924-1930). He moved to Winnipeg and taught at Isaac Newton School (1930-1932) and Kelvin High School (1932-1968). While at Kelvin, he coached the girls basketball team, for which he was inducted posthumously (1984) into the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame. He retired in 1968. He died unmarried at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital on 29 April 1973 and was buried at Lindsay, Ontario.
