Memorable Manitobans: Edith May Kelly (1916-1998)
Born at Winnipeg on 7 May 1916, daughter of Julia Margaret Evans (c1883-1924) and Walter Kelly (1882-?), she taught at Giroux School (?-?) and was a teacher (1939-1945) and Principal (1941-1945) of Ridgewood School, followed with teaching at Dugald School (1945-1948) and within the Brooklands School District (1948-1966) and St. James School Division (1967-1973), at Brooklands Red School (1948-1956) and Brooklands Collegiate / Butterworth School (1956-1973) respectively, the latter where she also served as Vice-Principal (1961-1973) until her retirement. She died at Beacon Hill Lodge in Winnipeg on 23 November 1998.
