Memorable Manitobans: Cecil Cullen Foster (1911-1998)

Educator.

Born in the RM of Turtle Mountain on 30 October 1911, son of Andrew S. Foster and Catherine Elizabeth Cullen, he began his teaching career at Glenboro School, in 1936, moving to Melita School. He served as the Principal of Sidney School (1939-1941), Virden School (1943-1948), and Russell School (1948-1955). The last 17 years were spent at General Wolfe School and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, where he retired in 1973. He was a founding member of Immanuel United Church. He died at Winnipeg on 8 July 1998 and was buried in the Glen Eden Memorial Garden.
