Memorable Manitobans: Thomas Henry Jackson Walton (1866-?)

Cleric.

Born at Kotree, India on 18 August 1866, son of Rev. William Walton and Mary McNeil, his father entered the ministry in September 1887 and was ordained a priest at Winnipeg in 1888. He was stationed at Clearwater and subsequently at Morden where he was Rural Dean and Rector of St. Thomas Episcopal Church until succeeded by his son in November 1891. Thomas Walton was educated at Allesley Park College in England and later attended King’s College in London, England. In 1881, he came to Ontario and, in 1885, moved to Manitoba where, two years later, he entered St. John’s College, graduating with an Arts degree in 1891. On 6 November 1891, he married Louisa J. Wilson of Marringhurst. They had a son.
