Educator, administrator.
Born on 3 June 1937, son of Gwynn Allen Valentine and Sarah Harriet Carse, he received BSc (1959), Certificate in Education (1960), and BA degrees from the University of Manitoba then began teaching Science at St. James Collegiate. He then lived and taught at United College where he was the Dean of Residence. He later received an MA degree from the Ontario Institute of Education at the University of Toronto.
On returning to Manitoba, he moved to the Seven Oaks School Division where he was guidance counsellor and Vice-Principal at Jefferson Junior High School (1972-1973) and Principal of Collicutt School (?-?). He served as President of the Manitoba Teachers’ Society (1978-1979) and was an administrator at the School Division until retirement in 1996.
On 14 August 1972, he married Lillian “Bonnie” and they had a son. He volunteered with the Irish Association of Manitoba and served on the board of the Contemporary Dancers. He managed the soccer team at Maples Collegiate that won provincial championships. As a marriage commissioner, he was in much demand due to his surname.
He died at the St. Boniface Hospital on 16 August 2017.
