Memorable Manitobans: A. Jean Robertson Tucker (1930-2025)

Educator, genealogist.

Born at Grandview on 10 August 1930, daughter of Hubert H. Robertson and V. Ellen Crowe, she attended grades 1 to 9 at Morranville School then completed high school at the Grandview Collegiate. After graduating from the Manitoba Teachers' College in Winnipeg, she taught at Makinak School (1948-1949) and Burrows School (1949-1952).

In 1952, she married farmer Robert O. "Bert" Tucker (?-?) and they subsequently had a daughter and two sons. After her children were in school, she began working as a substitute teacher and later was a member of the administrative staff at the Dauphin Regional Hospital for 26 years. She served with several community organizations, including the Spruce Creek Ladies Club, Spruce Creek Credit Union, Dauphin Co-op (Director), and Durston 4-H Club. A founding member of the Manitoba Genealogical Society, she compiled histories and her and her husband's families. In 2005, she published A Dictionary of Pioneer Families of the Dauphin Valley following a decade of genealogical research.

She died at Dauphin on 7 December 2025.
