Educator.

Born at Yorkton, Saskatchewan on 3 March 1914, only child of Albert Tomlinson (1891-1980) and Charlotte Agnes Pudsey (1887-1980), he attended the University of Manitoba then taught at Emerson School (1937-1939), Ravenscourt School (1940-1944), and the United College Collegiate (1944-1957). He was Dean of the Collegiate Division of United College (later the University of Winnipeg) from 1957 to his death. There, he was known for his compassion and strong personal commitment to the scholastic achievement of all students.

He died suddenly at his Winnipeg residence, 423 Borebank Street, on 13 January 1970 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. His honorary pallbearers were J. D. Mulholland, K. Johnson, L. S. Bennett, Gordon Blake, Roderick Oliver Alexander “Rod” Hunter, L. T. Richardson, R. B. T. Whitbread, and W. Rutherford.

In 2005, the Dean’s Bursary Fund at the University of Winnipeg was established in his memory.
