Memorable Manitobans: Grace Elizabeth Armstrong Moore (1914-2008)

Educator.

Born on the family farm near Sinclair on 24 February 1914, daughter of John Robertson Armstrong (1872-1947) and Janet Pitt (1888-1972), she attended Crescent School, Sinclair School, Brandon College (1933) and the University of Saskatchewan (1934). She taught at Pierson School (1934-1936), Oak River School (1937-1940), and Oakwood School (1940-1944). In 1944, she married Richard Moore and they subsequently had two children. She remained involved in education through tutoring and working at the Correspondence Branch of the Manitoba Department of Education. She died at the Grace Hospital on 10 July 2008.
