Memorable Manitobans: Dorothy Eleanor Lane (1902-1991)

Educator.

Born at Morris on 17 June 1902, daughter of George Lane and Ann Armstrong, she joined the teaching staff of the Winnipeg School Division in 1927, teaching at Fort Rouge School (1927-1942) and La Verendrye School (1942-1947). She served successively as the Principal of Montcalm School (1947-1951), Brock-Corydon School (1951-1953), and Wolseley School (1953-1968). She spent 50 summers at Lake Malachi and served on the Lake Malachi Association. She retired in June 1968 and died at Winnipeg on 8 June 1991.
