Memorable Manitobans: Moses Dorfman (1879-1942)

Building contractor.

Born on 15 August 1879, he worked as a general contractor in Winnipeg.

He and wife Dora Fidelman (1880-1951) had six children: Irwin Dorfman, Sidney S. Dorfman (?-?), Essie Dorfman (?-?, wife of ? Blair), Mollie Dorfman (1906-?, wife of Alexander Oscar Knelman), Sara Dorfman (?-?, wife of David Isman), and Rose Dorfman (?-?, wife of Joseph Mandel Bloom). The family lived at 36 Bannerman Avenue, Winnipeg. He was active in the Jewish Immigrant Aid Society, Jewish Orphanage, Ashkenazi Synagogue (President) and B'nai B'rith (Winnipeg Lodge).

He died at Winnipeg on 17 May 1942 and was buried in the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery.
