George Roy Clark

Farmer, community activist.
Born in the Stewartville district on 31 March 1894, son of John Clark (1868-1937) and Sarah Young (1872-1935), he attended Maine School, Alexander School, and Brandon Collegiate, then farmed in the Poplar Hills district until retirement to Brandon in 1951.
On 30 October 1917, he married Jessie Irene Grant (1892-1973) in the RM of Elton and they subsequently had four sons and two daughters. In 1974, he married Reta Houck (?-?) of Lauder. He was active in several organization, serving as President of the Manitoba Winter Fair (1950-1952) and a director of the Provincial Exhibition for 38 years. He was President of the local association of Manitoba Pool Elevators for 19 years and served as President of the Manitoba Swine Breeders.
He died at his Brandon residence, 1930 Rosser Avenue, on 2 October 1981 and was buried in the Brandon Cemetery.
