Educator.
Born in the Komarno-Zbruch area on 29 August 1902, son of Stanley Chimchak (1875-1945) and Julia Chimchak (1878-1960), he attended Zbruch School, Teulon High School, and Wesley College. Following teacher training, he worked in rural Manitoba classrooms for 40 years, including at Jaroslaw School (1920-1921), Adam School (1921), Berlo Bismark School (?-?), Plum Ridge School (1926-1928, 1930-1933, Principal), Leeland School (1933-1937), and Meleb School (1937-1943, Principal 1937-1942), and was Principal of Tarno School (1943-1948) and Fraserwood School (1948-1961), after which he taught at Gimli Composite High School (1961-1965) until retirement.
He was a member of the Komarno Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, serving as its Secretary (15 years) and Cantor. On 22 September 1934, he married fellow teacher (of 38 years) Wanda Anne Boboski (1909-1989) in the Rural Municipality of Rockwood and they had one son, Bill Chimchak. He died at the Hunter Memorial Hospital in Teulon on 13 December 1981 and was buried in the St. Stephen’s Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery.
