Memorable Manitobans: William Eneas Toshack (1882-1928)Contractor, real estate developer. Born at Almonte, Ontario on 15 January 1882, he came to Winnipeg around 1898 and worked in real estate development and the building trade with his younger brother Fred S. Toshack (1900-1965). On 20 November 1906, he married Mary Emma Hyde (1887-1977) at St. John's Presbyterian Church and they had two daughters: Jessie Margaret Toshack (1907-1994, wife of Thomas Anthony Beckwith) and Nora Elaine Toshack (1911-?, wife of F. M. McKenzie). He died suddenly at his Winnipeg home, 145 Montrose Street, on 26 March 1928 and was buried in the Kildonan Presbyterian Cemetery. Some of his construction works in Manitoba included:
