Memorable Manitobans: Joshua Sumner (1906-1966)Engineer. Born at Liverpool, England on 28 January 1906, in childhood he came to Winnipeg with his family and attended St. John's High School and the University of Manitoba, receiving an engineering degree from the latter in 1926. During the Second World War, he served as a Flight Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Air Force. At the time of his death, he was Chief Engineer and Vice-President of the architectural firm of Green Blankstein Russell and Associates. He was a member of the Winnipeg Chamber of Comerce, Optimists Club, Metro Club, Serra Club, and Winnipeg Winter Club, and an advisory to some Catholic organizations.
