Memorable Manitobans: Horace V. Stevenson (1868-1945)

Farmer, municipal official.

Born in Ontario on 25 April 1868, son of William F. Stevenson and Elizabeth Stevenson (1834-?), he married Eva Josephine Oates Armstrong (?-?) on 7 January 1903. They had four children: James Stevenson (1903-?), Josie Stevenson (1906-?), Kathleen Stevenson (1908-?), and Douglas Stevenson (1910-?). In 1905, he was Secretary-Treasurer for the Rural Municipality of Woodworth, in which capacity he attended the founding meeting in Brandon of the Union of Manitoba Municipalities. He died at Brandon on 11 January 1945 and was buried in the Shiloh Cemetery.
