Memorable Manitobans: D. Bruce Shaw (c1903-1988)Businessman. President of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada and Manager of the A. E. Ames and Company in Winnipeg, he rose to the position of Senior Vice-President of the latter firm at Toronto. During the Second World War, he headed Victory Bond drives and later was a fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg. In 1951 he represented Manitoba on a Royal Commission investigating Red River flood damage. He was active in the Canadian Red Cross and served as its President in 1963-1964.
