Memorable Manitobans: Clifford Joseph “Cliff” Robson (1915-1970)

Psychologist.

Born at Kenora, Ontario in 1915, he lived and worked in Winnipeg for most of his life. He received a BA degree from United College, MA and BEd degrees from the University of Manitoba, and a PhD in educational psychology from the University of Minnesota. He was a Professor of Psychology at the University of Winnipeg for 20 years, serving as Chairman of the Psychology Department, building it from one to 20 members.

He served as President of the Manitoba Psychological Society and was a member of the Canadian Psychological Association, American Psychological Association, and Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity.

He died at Winnipeg on 14 March 1970 and was buried in the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. He is commemorated by the Clifford Robson Award presented by the Manitoba Psychological Society.
