Memorable Manitobans: Violet Labey Robertson (1901-1989)Educator. Born at Gaspe, Quebec on 15 January 1901, daughter of Francis H. Labey (1886-1963) and Adelize Le Gallias (1883-1957), she moved with her parents to Stonewall by 1906. She attended Stonewall School and completed her education in Winnipeg before returning to teach at Centre School (1922-1930). She later moved to Fort Garry where she taught in the Fort Garry Municipal School District and was the first Principal of Oakenwald School (1954-1963), after which she retired. On 18 August 1962, she married Walter Earle Robertson at Winnipeg and resided at 744 Brock Street in River Heights. She died at Winter Haven, Florida on 3 April 1989.
