Lawyer, judge, community activist.
Born on 20 January 1942, eldest of three children of William George “Bill” Ring (1918-2001) and Caroline Barbara “Carol” Kramble (1917-2009), he grew up in the north end of Winnipeg, graduating from Sisler High School in 1960 and attending United College. He received a law degree in 1968. He practiced law with the firm Pollock Nurgitz Pirates and served as a Judge of the Provincial Court (1977-1987). He was appointed Master to the Court of Queen's Bench in 1987. After retirement, he served on the Public Utilities Board. Around 1971, he married Pamela “Pam” Wilkinson and they had four sons. The family lived in Charleswood where he served as President of the Varsity View Community Club and was influential in the construction of the Varsity View Sportsplex in the 1980s. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. He helped to establish the Lutheran camp Luther Village on Dogtooth Lake in 1964. He died at Winnipeg on 14 June 2026.
