Memorable Manitobans: Norman Earl Reimer (1927-1981)

Architect.

Born at Steinbach in 1927, son of Jacob J. Reimer (1900-1981) and Anne Friesen (?-?), he came to Winnipeg in 1935 and graduated with an Architecture degree from the University of Manitoba (1949). He worked as an architect, initially at Edmonton (Alberta) and later in London (England) before returning to Winnipeg in 1956. He practiced in partnership with Malcolm Donald MacLeod in the firm of MacLeod and Reimer until July 1965 after which he practiced alone.

On 29 August 1953, he married Cynthia Constance Russell at Middlesex, England and they subsequently had a son and two daughters. He died at the Tache Nursing Centre on 31 July 1981.
