Educator.
Born at Winnipeg on 6 June 1949, the second of five children of John J. Redekop (1920-1981) and Dagmar Schroeder (1924-2016), he grew up in North Kildonan. He graduated from Westgate Mennonite Collegiate (1967) and studied at the University of Winnipeg (1967-1974) while working at Derksen Plumbing and teaching at the Transcona Day School.
In 1971, he married Rosella then the Mennonite Central Committee sent them to Jamaica where he taught grade 5 for two years and they had a daughter. After returning to Canada, in 1976 he began teaching grades 5 and 8 at the Winkler Elementary School and his son was born. He served as Principal at Parkland Elementary School (1991-1994) and Garden Valley Collegiate (1994-2003) in the Garden Valley School Division. He retired from teaching in 2003 then spent 15 years as a consultant who helped new immigrants build lives in Manitoba. He retired for a second time in 2018.
He died at Winkler on 24 July 2025.
