Memorable Manitobans: Violet Adeline Dale Palmer (1905-1988)
Born at Glenboro on 15 September 1905, daughter of Adeline Ellen Dunne (1874-1981) and John Thomas Dale (1874-1936), following graduation from the Brandon Normal School, she taught at Mimir School (?-1931), Greenway School (1931-1933), Glencove School (1942), Cypress River Consolidated School (1959-1966, Principal), and Rathwell School (?-?). On 30 December 1931, she married Alfred Robert Palmer (1907-1996) at Brandon and they had two sons. She lived at Cypress River since 1932 where she was an active member of the Cypress River United Church (Sunday School Superintendent) and the Rebekah Lodge. She helped her husband to operate the Highway Service Station for 35 years. In the 1980s, she helped to edit and publish the Cypress River Newsletter. She died at Morden on 11 November 1988 and was buried in the Glenboro Cemetery.
