Built in 1958 for the Cypress River Consolidated School District No. 2357 by contractor Mr. G. Peterson, the school was located in Cypress River in the Rural Municipality of Victoria. It was opened in January 1959 with elementary students transferring from their former school building nearby, which then became the local high school. This school was expanded with a gymnasium in 1976 and continued in operation until its closure in June 2009. In 2011, it was purchased for $100 by the Cypress River Resource Centre from the Prairie Spirit School Division, and for a period from 2012 to 2014 it was used by the Licensed Practical Nursing Program of Assiniboine Comunity College. The building houses the community library and hosts periodic activities and events.
