Memorable Manitobans: Louise Amelia Neilson MacKillop (1898-1987)Educator. Born at Winnipeg on 2 June 1898, daughter of Julia Ann Gauer (1874-1940) and Thomas Neilson (1869-1951), she graduated from the Central Normal School in Winnipeg. She taught at Victoria Beach School (1918), Golden Stream School (1922-1923), Purple Bank School (1925), Wentworth School (1928-1936; Principal 1935-1936), and Graysfield School (1941). Around the 1940s, she moved to Toronto, Ontario, married Albert Charles MacKillop (1883-1951), and taught at Toronto until retirement. She died at the Concordia Hospital on 11 December 1987 and her cremains were interred in the Elmwood Cemetery.
