Educator
Born at Central Onslow, Colchester County, Nova Scotia, on 21 November 1889, son of Caleb Elisha Lewis (1831-1906) and Susan Anna Cutten (1850-1933), he became an educator and took his career to western Canada.
He taught at Stockton School (1911-1912, Principal), Hamiota School (1912-1916), and Hartney School (1917, Principal) before departing for Theodore, Saskatchewan by 1920. By 1931, he had swapped careers from education to finance and worked as a bank manager at Birsay, Saskatchewan. On 5 August 1920, he married Eva May Blackburn (1894-1984) at St Luke’s Church at Strathclair and the couple honeymooned at Minnedosa.
He retired to British Columbia around 1949 where he lived at 5077 Cordova Bay Road in Saanich. He died there on 18 October 1957 and his cremains interred in the Royal Oak Burial Park at Victoria.
