Memorable Manitobans: Thomas Logan Kerr (1887-1941)Born at Edinburgh, Scotland on 8 November 1887, he studied architecture and building construction there. In 1905, he came to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where he worked for architects John Hamilton Gordon Russell (1905-1910) and John Nelson Semmens (1910-1912). He was the Winnipeg office manager for the Montreal firm of Brown and Vallance (1913-1914) and operated an independent architectural practice during this time, designing residences, churches, and apartment blocks. After the First World War, he worked as a draftsman in the office of Lewis H. Jordan and Walter Percy Over (1919-1921). He moved to California in late 1922 and had an architectural practice until 1927 when he moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. He worked in an architectural office then opened his own practice in December 1931. He died at Vancouver on 13 January 1941. Some of his architectural works in Manitoba included:
