Memorable Manitobans: Donald Philip Kerr (1938-2014)
Physicist. Born at Winnipeg in 1938, son of Victor and May Kerr, he attended United College in 1956 then enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy. He was subsequently awarded a PhD in Physics from the University of Manitoba (1965). He held a National Research Council scholarship in Germany then a Research Fellowship at Harvard University (1967). He returned to Winnipeg in 1969 to join the faculty of the University of Winnipeg, where he remained for 35 years, serving 10 years as Associate Dean of Budget and Planning.
