Memorable Manitobans: Kenneth Rutherford “Kenn” Jasper (1914-1991)

Educator, school inspector.

Born at Hartney on 17 February 1914, son of J. George Jasper (1878-1954) and Isabel Lees Rutherford (1881-1967), he received a BA degree from the University of Manitoba. His teaching career included service as the Principal of Fairfax School (1939-1941), Arrow River School (1941-1942), Pipestone School (1942-1948), Sherridon School (1948-1952), and Lynn Lake School (1952-1959). In 1959, he was appointed a Manitoba School Inspector, serving in the Hanover School Division until 1965. He assisted in the formation of the Frontier School Division and served as its Superintendent and Trustee from 1965 to 1975. He died at Winnipeg on 31 July 1991.
