Born at Rutherglen, Scotland on 1 October 1877, he immigrated to Canada in 1902 and settled at Winnipeg. Active as a building contractor in the city with the Beaver Construction Company, he built several schools for the Winnipeg School Division until retirement in 1946.
He and wife Catherine McNeil “Kate” Black (1885-1945) had two daughters: Lillian Elizabeth Jamieson (1909-1998, wife of ? Niven) and Annette Isabel Jamieson (1911-1996, wife of Keith Gill Kelsey). The family lived at 243 Waterloo Street. He was a member of the Masons (Prince Rupert Lodge) and Winnipeg Robert Burns Club.
He died at the Winnipeg General Hospital on 19 July 1948 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
