Memorable Manitobans: George Lindsay Henderson (1916-2008)Farmer, MLA (1969-1973), MLA (1973-1977). Born at Homewood on 18 March 1916, son of John Henderson and Ann Jane Bradley, he worked as a farmer, real estate appraiser, broker, and politician. He believed in community service and was President of the Chamber of Commerce, Mayor of Manitou (1968-1969), and in 1969 was elected the Conservative MLA for the Pembina constituency, being re-elected in 1973. He was married three times, first to Agnes Cassels, second to Clara Balfour, and third to Gertie McCauley. In 1977, he received a Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal.
