Artist.
Born at Lyesnoye, Ukraine, he came to Canada in 1924, originally settling in Waterloo, Ontario. He arrived in Winnipeg in 1926 to work at Brigden’s. From 1929 to 1934 he attended the Winnipeg School of Art, where he won scholarships and prizes. Although he exhibited often, he worked chiefly as a commercial artist, after 1956 in his own firm in partnership with Cornelius “Neil” Hoogstraten until retirement in September 1975. He and wife Elsie Ericsen (1916-2014) had a son and three daughters. He was a member of the Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church. He died at the Health Sciences Centre on 16 August 1976 and was buried in the Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
