Memorable Manitobans: Gustaf Hildebrandur “Gus” Finnson (c1934-2019)
Educator.
Born around 1934, son of Halddor Finnson of Arborg, he attended Manitoba Teachers’ College and worked in rural Manitoba schools, including teaching at Sylvan Glade School (1955-1956) and as Principal of Cossette School (1957-1959) and Hnausa School (1959-1963), the latter where he taught along with his wife. On 11 July 1959, he married fellow educator Elizabeth Mary “Betty” Boyachek at the St. James Lutheran Church and had one daughter. He died on 12 October 2019.
