Broadcaster.
Born at Coatbridge, Scotland in 1938, son of John and Helen Cochrane, he came to Canada with his family in 1950. He began a career in broadcasting in 1958, at CFOB Radio in Fort Frances, Ontario. He later moved to Winnipeg to join CJOB Radio where he served as Program Director, Station Manager, and, as of 1986, President and General Manager of CJOB-AM and 97.5FM.
He was President of the Manitoba and Western Association of Broadcasters and a director of the Canadian Association of Broadcaster. He was President of the Eric and Jack Wells Foundation, Winnipeg Press Club (1974), and Manitoba Press Council. He was a member of the communications advisory group for Red River College, and he served on the Board for the St. Charles Country Club and St. Mary's Academy. After retirement, he volunteered with Canadian Executives Serving Overseas (CUSO) and had assignments in Russia and Colombia.
He and wife Carol had two daughters and two sons.
He died at Winnipeg on 22 December 2025.
