Memorable Manitobans: Amy Adelaide Ditch Browning (1893-1981)Educator. Born on the RM of Odanah on 19 October 1893, daughter of William Hamilton Ditch (1862-1922) and Annie Brock McNeill (1862-1935), she grew up at Minnedosa and became an educator, earning her third class teaching certification in 1911. She worked at Tremaine School (1913-1914) and married John H. Browning (c1890-?) at Winnipeg on 14 February 1922. The couple had two children: Philip R. Browning and Lorna Adelaide Browning (wife of Rev. Claude D. Dicks). She later moved to Selkirk and continued her career as Principal of Victoria School (1932-1947) followed by teaching at Devonshire School (1949-1952, 1954-1956) and Daerwood School (1952-1954). She was made honourary IODE (Lord Selkirk) Vice-Regent in 1958. She moved to Tampa, Florida in January 1965 and died at Pinellas, Florida on 1 August 1981.
