Educator.
Born at Palermo, Trafalgar Township, Halton County, Ontario on 1 December 1889, son of Samuel A. Bowman (1843-?) and Mary S. Bowman (1857-?), he took teacher training and moved to Manitoba in 1908.
His teaching career spanned over 40 years, including service as the Principal of Starbuck School (1908-1910) and as a teacher at Empress School (1915-1918), Eriksdale School (1921-1923, Principal), Gypsumville School (1924), and John Black School (1924-1950) within the Old Kildonan School District No. 2102.
On 20 August 1924, he married Muriel Jennie Almond (1901-1990) at Winnipeg and they had five children: Mary Frances Bowman (1925-?, wife of Laurence “Larry” Smith), James Albert Bowman, Burton Bowman, George Bowman, and David Bowman.
He died at the Park Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg on 24 February 1985 and was buried in the Brookside Cemetery.
