Historic Sites of Manitoba: Hedges School (369 Fairlane Avenue, Winnipeg)

Hedges Junior High School was built between 1968 and 1969, at a cost of $1.2 million, by contractor J. G. Taubensee on a design by architect S. E. Lindgren of the firm Pratt, Lundgren, Snider, Tomcez and Associates. Named in commemoration of Patrick H. Hedges, builder of the first school in the area, an official opening ceremony on 28 November 1969 was presided by Attorney General Alvin Mackling. Other guests included School Board Chair D. H. McNabb, Mayor W. Hanks, and School Inspector R. Vasey.
