Memorable Manitobans: Arthur Wade (1886-?)

Educator.

Born at Bramhope, Leeds, Yorkshire, England on 6 February 1886, the son of George Wade and Mary Ellen Wice, he immigrated to Canada in 1905. He worked as a bookkeeper and science teacher and served as Principal of Binscarth School (1910-1911). On 26 April 1916, he married Ida Mary Burton (1890-?) at Winnipeg after enlisting for military service in the First World War. He attained the rank of Lieutenant and appears to have survived the war although his later whereabouts are unknown.
