Memorable Manitobans: Penelope Helena Mastaway “Nellie/Pennie” Tuba (1923-2019)

Educator.

Born on 5 October 1923, she became a teacher and worked in rural Manitoba as Principal of Hnausa School (1944-1947) and Bradwardine School (1947-1950). Around 1946, she married Charles Tuba (1926-2017) and they had twin daughters. They moved to Edmonton and she taught in the Edmonton School District for around 30 years. She died on 29 May 2019 and was buried there in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
