Memorable Manitobans: Alice Frances “Fran” Thompson (1927-2017)

Municipal official.

Born at Port Arthur (now Thunder Bay), Ontario on 28 October 1927, daughter of Ruby and Arthur Thompson, she grew up at Jellicoe, Ontario and later lived at Flin Flon, Swan River, and Winnipeg before settling at St. Georges. She had a home nursing certificate, worked as a veterinarian, and operated an accounting business. She served two terms as the Reeve for the Local Government District of Alexander (1977-1980, 1983-1986). She died on 11 February 2017.
