Memorable Manitobans: Annie Elizabeth Templeman (1876-1937)Educator. Born at Bexley, England on 31 January 1876, she married Daniel Templeman (1876-1920) and had one daughter, Winnifred H. “Winnie” Templeman. The couple moved to Winnipeg around 1907, where she taught and was Principal of the Carter Avenue School (1909-1916) before becoming the first Principal of George Fifth School (1916-1931). Her husband had a farm near Stewart Lake where he spent much of his time on account of ill health. She was a member of the Professional Women’s Club and the Women’s Musical Club. She died at Grace Hospital on 5 November 1937 and buried in Elmwood Cemetery. Sources:Death registrations, Manitoba Vital Statistics.
